First up: meet Ella McKay, the fabulous founder behind FATSO - the ridiculously good chocolate brand. We asked Ella a few questions about her story and FATSO's journey to give you a real taste of the brand. 

As a female-founded brand featured in Buy Women Built, when did you start Fatso, and what inspired you to create a chocolate brand with such a bold personality?

FATSO was a lock-down idea, not so much born from inspiration rather frustration: that dark chocolate was not only boring but also being moved into a space of healthy permissibility. Chocolate is supposed to be delicious, it’s supposed to bring a moment of light relief. A sweet treat. Dark chocolate should be no different. So having decided enough was enough, FATSO was created: a chunky, flavourful dark chocolate bar that had all the right quality and ethical credentials we should expect, but at the forefront, and for the consumers (who are the ones that matter), it tastes amazing and looks fun, cool and like a chocolate bar you actually want to eat. We launched to the world in October 2022 and we’ve not looked back.

Back-to-school means parents finally get a moment to themselves - what’s your top Fatso bar for the ultimate grown-up treat?

This question is like asking me to choose my favourite child! But for this year, let’s go with Home Run: Salted Pretzel, Almond & Honeycomb. Because you parents really deserve this win, knocking it outta the park surviving 6+ weeks of school hols (!), and what better treat than the hattrick of salty, sweet, and crunchy!?

What makes Fatso such a great gift for Christmas?
