Meet The Maker x Beorma

Meet The Maker x Beorma

BEORMA is renowned for its traditional British leather craftsmanship and heritage. What inspired the founding of the brand, and how do you balance classic leather-making techniques with modern design?

Walsall used to be the epicentre of the leather craft world, we heard of a leather factory closing down and wanted to step in and keep people in a job and save the craft of leather work from disappearing. Our team of artisans use techniques that are steeped in heritage, we design, hand select the leather we work with and make everything in our Walsall factory. We want to stand out for British made that will last a lifetime, so in this modern world of fast fashion our ambition is that our bags will be passed down to the next generation. We don't follow trends, we design and make bags that can be used any season. We truly believe the more our bags are used the more beautiful they become. The best part of a leather bag is when it starts to tell it's own story over years

As Autumn sets in, what is your top BEORMA piece for styling a timeless seasonal wardrobe?

We hand plait our leather belts and have a secret formula to get the weave into the stunning herringbone design. The leather we select for our belts also patinas over time so the more they are worn the better they become. We have a stunning Suede belt using British pasture leather for those who want to add a textured belt to their autumn outfits, this in brown with the brass buckle is one of our best sellers. For our bag collection in autumn tones we have the wonderful badalassi in tobacco for those who want a more moody deep brown in their wardrobe. Sticking with brown tones for autumn our bridle leather is available most stunning chocolate brown. Our collection core colours are tan and black so classic palettes are also well looked after.

With gifting at the top of visitors lists, why does a handcrafted leather item from BEORMA Leather Company make the ultimate luxury Christmas gift?

The time, skill and leather we place into all of our pieces is what makes Beorma special. Unlike most Christmas presents, Beorma leather is designed to improve with use, the full-grain leather patinas and deepens in character over the years, so the gift keeps getting better long after the wrapping paper is gone. That's a rare thing to give, most presents are at their best the moment they're unwrapped, a Beorma piece is still improving years later, carrying the marks of every place it's been and everything it's carried.

Be sure to check out Beorma this year at our 25th year anniversary Spirit of Christmas Fair! They'll be located stand: Q150 at the Grand Hall!
