Maya's Worldly Wonders® Product lines spans books, branded merchandise and animation with educational themes running through all the stories. The mission-driven franchise is built to inspire the next generation of curious, courageous and compassionate global citizens.

The Books

The series currently comprises five beautifully illustrated titles, each set in a different country and drawn directly from places the author has visited: Malaysia, Japan, Nepal, Brazil and Sri Lanka. Written for children aged 5 to 11, each book follows Maya, a bold and curious British-Indian girl, as she navigates new cultures, tries unfamiliar foods, learns local words and phrases, discovers key landmarks, and confronts her fears with bravery and an open heart.

The stories are carefully crafted to teach children that the world is not something to be afraid of but something to be explored. Themes across the series include overcoming fear and building courage, appreciating linguistic and cultural diversity, environmental and animal conservation, and developing empathy and global citizenship. The books are aligned with the KS2 geography curriculum and reference the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals throughout, giving them genuine educational depth alongside their storytelling warmth.

The series was featured in Teach Primary magazine (Issue 20.4), one of the UK's leading primary education publications, with a double-page KS2 geography lesson plan reaching 8,000 schools in print and 50,000 educators digitally, with three free downloadable classroom resources also available.

The Characters & Merchandise

The Maya plush doll is the perfect companion to the books, bringing the protagonist to life as a huggable, travel-ready character children can take on their own adventures.
