The 5ft Whimsical Verde Otto Wood Look Nutcracker is finished in soft sage green with cream and pale blue detailing over a navy drum base, and green is a far more useful nutcracker colour than it first sounds.
Red competes with a tree and with most greenery. Sage green sits with it instead, so this Otto works alongside garlands, wreaths, foliage and a green tree without fighting any of it, and the muted tone means he reads as decor rather than as a novelty.
He stands 152cm tall, a full five feet, on a decorative drum base measuring 38cm by 43cm. He is moulded in plastic with a wood-carved surface texture, which is the practical advantage over a resin figure at this size: he is light enough for one person to carry and reposition, and he will not chip on a corner or crack if he goes over in the wind.
