The 5ft Velvet & Vanilla Otto Wood Look Nutcracker is finished in deep burgundy with cream and pale grey detailing, and it is the richest of the six colourways without tipping into brightness.
Burgundy has the warmth of red without the shout of scarlet, and against cream detailing it reads closer to a Victorian toy than a modern decoration. It works with brass, dark wood, tartan and candlelight, and it photographs particularly well, which matters if he is going somewhere he will be seen and shared.
He stands 152cm tall, a full five feet, on a decorative drum base measuring 38cm by 43cm. He is moulded in plastic with a wood-carved surface texture, which is the practical advantage over a resin figure at this size: he is light enough for one person to carry and reposition, and he will not chip on a corner or crack if he goes over in the wind.
