BARE LA TERRE - Press Release
Dermatologist-developed skincare, safe for young skin and the planet
From the rise of “Sephora Kids” on TikTok to the increasing visibility of children using adult-grade actives, parents are being asked to navigate a complex, trend-led skincare landscape – often without clear guidance on what is safe, necessary, or age-appropriate.
Bare la Terre launched this Spring to offer a different path.
Bare la Terre is a skincare brand created for “the in-betweens” – children who are no longer babies, not yet teenagers, and whose skin is still developing. Informed by the founders’ own experiences caring for their children’s sensitive, changing skin, the brand prioritises skin-barrier protection and dermatologist-developed formulas, balanced with child-led design that celebrates the joy, curiosity and playfulness of being an in-between. The result is a thoughtful alternative to adult skincare routines filtering down to tweens and Generation Alpha.
Founded by mothers Elise Som and Nicola Takada Wood, Bare la Terre draws on expertise spanning sustainability, consumer brands and global finance. Elise Som, Chief Creative Officer, is a Harvard-educated sustainability leader and purpose-driven entrepreneur, known for building award-winning consumer brands with industry-leading environmental practices. Nicola Takada Wood, Chief Executive Officer, brings over 20 years of experience in global finance and award-winning activist investing, alongside a lifelong philosophy of gentle, preventative skincare inspired by her half-Japanese heritage. Together, they bring long-term thinking and responsibility to a new category of skincare.
“As a mother of two, Bare la Terre was born from a simple hope: that the world we pass on to our children is a little kinder, a little healthier, and better than the one we inherited. We’re incredibly proud to introduce a brand rooted in care, for young skin and for the planet.”
