The Scottish island of Islay is renowned for producing smokey, peaty malts, though Islay malts actually range from minimal to medium and maximum smokeyness, while some have no smoke at all, so there is plenty to choose from. And whatever the level of smoke they also offer favourite flavours such as vanilla, chocolate, coffee, citrus, tropical fruit, honey, and maritime characteristics such as hints of sea salt. There are nine distilleries on Islay, which all have a passionate following around the world. I would like to show you why !
