WHO ARE MAGGIE'S?

Maggie’s West London provide free cancer support to anyone with cancer, and their friends and family, in the West London area.

Their qualified staff provide 1:1 cancer support, facilitate group sessions, psychological support and benefits advice.

Built in the grounds of Charing Cross Hospital, they provide a welcoming space to shelter from the busy, clinical, stressful environment of the hospital.

Due to coronavirus, the way they provide support has altered and they have moved some support online to be accessible to anyone who needs them.

They are currently providing cancer support to around 500 people a week.

HOW THEY PROVIDE SUPPORT

Due to coronavirus, cancer screening programmes were paused in March and GP referrals reduced by 75% meaning their support is needed now more than ever.

Maggie’s are determined to support the thousands of people who have been newly diagnosed during this time, those who have had treatment delayed or cancelled, those who feel isolated and lonely and the families who are grieving the painful loss of loved ones.

They've adapted the vital practical and emotional support they offer and are now providing:

✦ Telephone and video sessions, for those unable or anxious about leaving home

✦ Face to face support at their centre for people coming into hospital for treatment or appointments, or who require cancer support and advice

✦ Online support groups and sessions

All their support has always been and will continue to be free, however Maggie’s doesn’t receive any government funding so is completely reliant on the generosity of their donors.
