Honey Hills Great Taste Award Winners exhibit for the first time!
Seven of Honey Hills honey varieties and one honey vinegar were awarded Great Taste awards this year, whilst the Honey Hills range includes over twenty more honeys that have not yet been entered.
Unlike mass-produced honeys, sourced in bulk quantities from huge bee farms in many different countries, transported half way around the world; heated, mixed, and adulterated with syrups to produce artificial tastes at cheap prices, Honey Hills stocks only the purest honey from personally known single sources.
Our honey is produced by happy bees whose hives are taken to secret locations of wildflower outgrowths, tree blossoms and honeydews found in the vast un-farmed expanses of the Carpathian Mountains.
Only the excess honey not needed by the bees is harvested from our hives, allowing the bees to stay healthy by feasting on their own honey as they truly deserve. No medicines or other chemicals are ever used, unlike in mass-production farms which take all the bees honey at once and replace it with cheap syrups causing the bees to suffer stress and ill health which requires treatment with antibiotics.
Therefore our honey is completely safe for people with antibiotic allergies who cannot usually eat honey.
Honey Hills finds small scale artisan beekeepers who pride themselves in their honey, often travelling for hours into the mountains to find the best places for their bees. They will also move their hives between locations to create specific flavours from different nectars - and they only sell their products in local markets, which is how we find them.
We insist that our beekeepers really love their bees, don't use any chemicals or cruel practices, and produce their own organic or mountain certified honey using only traditional and kind methods,
Examples of our honey range from light-coloured clear, pure Acacia with its well rounded taste and notable anti-cancer and heart-health properties, to darker, richer, Forest Liquor honeys made from the honeydews of trees, some varieties of which are enhanced by the sweetness of raspberry blossom and wildflowers.
We include tasting and pairing notes to help users relish the unique qualities of each honey, and note their specific known health benefits.
Some of our honeys are produced in very small quantities due to the shortness of flowering seasons, or because only small quantities can be collected in the colder months when the bees need it themselves to stay alive.
It is important to our clients that our honeys are 100% pure, unpasteurised and organic; literally straight from the hive with no other processing than extraction, hand-filtering and bottling. This guarantees that not only is the unique taste-essence transported from the wild location from which the nectar has been harvested, but every fragile amino acid, vitamin and mineral concealed within the nectars and honeydews has been perfectly preserved to yield its potential health benefits.
At this year's Spirit of Christmas Fair, Honey Hills will be selling tasting sets, hampers and rare honeys which make exceptional and unique gifts. Visitors to our stand will also find our award-winning Honey Vinegar, our fulll award-winning honey range, and some extraordinary honeys such as our almost black Wild Knotweed Honey, tasty Mountain Sumac Honey and delicately flavoured Wild Garlic Honey. All delicious and unlikely to have been tasted by any visitor before.
