Samaritans are the official Fair charity for 2009. During the Fair, you can leave your shopping for safe keeping at the Samaritans Shopping Drop-Off Point, giving you extra freedom to enjoy your day. All revenue goes to Samaritans, who provide 24/7 support to anyone in distress especially over Christmas.
Samaritans will be running a raffle at the Shopping Drop Off Point to win a deluxe hamper, kindly supplied by First 4 Hampers who supply the finest fresh fruit baskets and gourmet food hampers, featuring Christmas Hampers and Get Well Soon gifts amongst its luxury hamper range, from Great Taste Award winning producers.
The Samaritans vision statement is:
"Samaritans' Vision is that fewer people die by suicide. Our Mission is to alleviate emotional distress and reduce the incidence of suicidal feelings and suicidal behaviours. Christmas is a great time of the year, but at Samaritans we know it's not great for everyone. We experience our most intense period of the year over the Festive Season. Thousands of people will use our services every day during Christmas and the New Year and of course, the current economic climate will be an added cause for concern for most of us.
